At my age, Joanne Kathleen Rowling has struggled through a lot, mostly with her personal life then, in order to get to where she is today. Salute!
"Joanne was in an emotional whirldwind. She had just turned twenty-six. She was once again out of work. The relationship with her boyfriend once again seemed to be going nowhere. And she was in a constantly saddened state because of the death of her mother.
The only real joy in her life was Harry Potter.
She had continued to work diligently on the book, with boxes overflowing with ideas, names, and fragments of stories. Joanne was feeling confident in what she had jotted down and began seriously contemplating writing the novel. But she was town between living out her dream of a life dedicated to writing and the guilt she was feeling at not being like everyone else."
- Marc Shapiro (Author of J.K. Rowling, The Wizard Behind Harry Potter)
... what wasn't mentioned there is that, on top of all that, she had a daughter to take care of. A lot changed for me when I finished reading this book few months ago. Not because it was the best writing in the world, but because we thought the person behind Harry Potter must be one hell of a man. But it wasn't, it's one hell of a WOMAN.
