happy 52, malaysia

dear diary,

merdeka eve was celebrated with my sister's performance, club hopping, cherries, red lipstick, short skirts, dancing with strangers, visits to the ladies', gossiping and indian food - thank our heroes for this independence. Let's do it again!

dear diary,

I'll be honest, i've not heard any of her music.
But how can you not love a Puerto Rican chick dj that looks as good as this?

Catwalk review on Voize.my

dear diary,

Voize writer, Charlene Joseph, posted a review of our new single 'Catwalk' today.

"This electro-house version of Ze’s ‘Catwalk’ consists of a style and mix of modern house music with repetitive vocals, four to the floor beats which are commonly found in house music and abrasive high-pitched leads with a tempo of 120 to 135 bpm. It also consists of a really deep repetitive bass sound. Ze’s style (music and fashion-wise) has always been the kind to wake up to without that necessary hit of caffeine in the morning – the loud, in-your-face, shocking and bright coloured ‘look at me’ designs therefore, her music must speak the same language. It is definitely far from boring either.

Catwalk is definitely a ‘jump from wall to wall’, hyper and fun song where Ze! and her girl friends just wanna have fun. If you enjoy the likes of Electro / Pop / Disco House music, visit Ze!’s Official Website and listen to Ze’s new single and the rest of her ‘Electrofied’ music."

Listen/buy 'Catwalk' here.

g.i. joe

dear diary,

Spent my saturday night with the girls watching g.i. joe because we wanted to see sienna miller. It's good fun - if you can look past the mediocre acting and silly storyline - it was full of action, pretty people, missile hits and bombs from the beginning to the end. Not as much abs going on from the men as I would've expected but I cant help but wonder what mr snake eyes looks like underneath all that cover. Hmm, let's all wait for the sequel - so long as he doesn't turn out to be Jay Z, i'm good.

confessions of an air hostess

dear diary,

This book by Marisa Mackle is cute - like most little black dress' books are. Danny sounds like a familiar mistake and Mr Kane (or any guy who'd buy you a pair of Jimmy Choos without you hinting for them) sounds like my kinda guy *wink*

A fun weekend read!

ze! album : in progress

dear diary,

I cannot believe i posted this almost ONE whole year ago. And said it would be out early this year. And then, had a release date set in August. And now, fingers crossed it is set to be out before my upcoming birthday. Turning 25, again, that is.

But I promise you it will be worth the wait.

I've now one more song left to write - hallelujah! Recorded my vocals for a track I'm working on with french producer Alan de Laniere earlier today. Here's a quick shot of my little vocal recording space (hardly even a booth) - equipped only with a mic, my mbox and a purple pantyhose for a pop filter. This is when I miss being spoilt with super sexy studios SAE has had to offer - oh, the good ol' days :)

i am glam original lyrics

dear diary,

I must be psychic. I was working on a new song today and thought I should go look for the original copy of 'I AM GLAM' lyrics which I wrote whilst in de Rockfabriek studio with Ruben last year - because it was one of those lyrics I wrote on some random piece of paper and was missing from my songwriting book. By some freak chance, unintentionally found it while cleaning my room just hours later.

Hello, madam zorra.

osixnine on cloveTWO

dear diary,

This was forever ago (sometime in February) - but I see that it's just been posted last month on Clove Two. A short review of our last fashion show @ Urbanattic organised by Fashion Flirt.

"Just a short post today on homegrown fashion label osixnine, which specializes in stylish street-wear. Designs and colours are bold and bright, just great for those who love to stand out in the crowd. OSIXNINE entered the local fashion scene in 2006 as an online store but is now operating from its boutique in Subang Jaya.

The company was started by two sisters who are into music, graphic designs and anything DIY. Osixnine’s collection was showcased at London’s 2008 Tradeshow Streetwear. These images were taken during their event held at Urbannattic, Capsquare KL. The shoe collection is from another homegrown fashion label Bulu-Bulu." - Clove Two.

i are zombie

dear diary,

Wow. I'm not a freak after all.

"Most people think being nocturnal is either a choice or the result of insomnia. It is neither. Nocturnal people stay up all night because that's their body's natural rhythm. It's true that some people choose to stay up late and sleep in.

However, most night owls would prefer to sleep when everyone else does. Being nocturnal hinders the ability. It's also true that insomniacs are often up all night. The difference is that insomnia is short term and treatable. Being nocturnal is not. Rather, it's a natural state of being." - Roselyn James

aisya hasnaa & miss.osixnine

dear diary,

I photographed my sister and her friend yesterday, for promo shots of their upcoming show together at a club called Mist in Kuala Lumpur. The one photo they've finally chosen to use obviously isn't gonna be anything as fun as these ones i've personally picked out; in which I think they look cute and very much them noisy selves.

'I Am Glam' on ChannelMTB.com

dear diary,

'I Am Glam' was used on Channel MTB, a mountain bike international television channel; for RaceScene: 2009 Mont Saint Anne UCI World Cup - XC.

2009 Mont Saint Anne World Cup - XC from ChannelMTB on Vimeo.

"The 2009 World Cup event at Mont Saint Anne served as a precursor to the 2010 World Championships. With new course layouts every rider wanted to gain valuable experience for next years event. The talk of the weekend on the XC course was the rock garden descent, with rain making the section even more difficult organizers added an optional line that went around the garden forcing racers to make last minute adjustments to their race strategy. The women were faced with the daunting task of rain throughout their race on an already technical course, Catherine Pendrel made the most of the conditions and took the lead in the second lap holding off 2007 World Champion Irina Kalentieva

Julien Absalon was the heavy favorite coming into the event carrying a string of World Cup wins to his name. Early in the race Ralf Naf opened up a large lead but his choice of running mud tires did not pay off as the course dried off. Absalon pushed the pace on the third lap and took the win followed by Jose Antonio Hermida 30 seconds behind.

i'm unrealistic, so what?

dear diary,

Yes I am fully aware that i seem to live in my own little fantasy. And that's only because i (really) don't want to be just another one in 6 billion of you.

"
It’s lonely at the top. 99% of the world is convinced they are incapable of achieving great things, so they aim for the mediocre middle-ground. Having an unusually large goal is an adrenaline infusion that provides the endurance to overcome the inevitable trials and tribulations that go along with any goal. Realistic goals, goals restricted to the average ambition level, are uninspiring and will only fuel you through the first or second problem, at which point you throw in the towel.

If the potential payoff is mediocre or average, so is your effort." - Tim Ferris

jeantrix

dear diary,

I love it when I discover a fashion label that doesn't take itself all too seriously. Welcome to the world of Jeantrix where dresses seem to pop out of a comic book with colours vomited out of a very hungover rainbow. Started in 2003 by 2 designers from Philadelphia, I see them going the way of Heatherette's and surely one to watch out for. Bam! x
